Sikhism: Reflections On Gurbani
GURBANI ARTICLES — SHABAD VICHAAR
Please Note:
These Gurbani articles are only for personal and noncommercial use. For any non-personal and commercial use (books, magazines,
newsletters, newspapers, posting any of these articles in forums and message boards or blogs, etc.), please contact
us for permission. Because of past abuses (by some Sikh Websites!), we had to implement this condition.
For example, some copied articles from here and posted somewhere else making representation of their
own authorship! Humble request to the readers: please email us any such fraud and falsehood.
Linking these articles: As these articles routinely get updated, please do not cut and paste them on to your website pages (or PDF files). Instead please add a direct link to them. This way the reader can see the most updated edition.
If you wish to quote material, use our images and graphics of any kind from this website in any form of
publication, paper, electronic report or for non-personal or commercial use, please contact us providing
exact details of the proposed use (material for which permission is sought, type of publication, purpose,
date(s), etc.). How to cite material from this website: "Reflections On Gurbani": http://www.gurbani.org/(particular page info, and today’s date go here).
Please read our Terms of Use for more information.
To say the esoteric meaning of the Gurbani clearer, these Gurbani
articles constantly get updated. You may verify latest
update by simply checking the date and time stamped at the bottom of each
article. So please revisit them as you wish. The author also would like to thank all those who inspired him to write some of these articles.
This ordinary effort is intended for gaining deeper understanding of the Gurbani (SGGS) As It Is. No absolute consistency or finality is claimed. Neither any offense
is intended, nor it's intended to hurt any ones belief or feelings in any way,
nor it's intended to flatter or please any ones whims or fancies (Haume or false ego-sense) either.
A note on gender: It's only for the ease of writting and reading that these Gurbani Reflections use a
pronoun "He" for God or human beings. But surely God or Soul transcends all gender! Also, the term
"Man" is always to be understood in its generic sense, including both woman and man, unless the
context indicates otherwise.
Gurbani Font: In articles 1 through 97, the Gurbani verses are written in English transliteration.
Starting from article number 98 ("Dukh Daaroo"), in addition to English transliteration,
the Gurbani verses are also availble in Gurmukhi true type font (GurbaniAkharHeavy created by Dr. Kulbir S. Thind)
that needs to be installed on your computer only if you wish
to read the verses in Gurmukhi. Otherwise you don't have to. To download this Gurmukhi font click >>
Here. After
you click on the hyperlink, a pop-up window will appear. Select and click on "Save",
and save the file to your c:\windows\fonts directory (or Winnt/Fonts if your are on NT).
If you come a cross a free software -- shareware etc. -- that can
translate from English to Punjabi, please share with us. Thanks.
