One knows the Truth only When

The Gurbani has given us the markers – if we set these markers in our lives, then we should be able to ascertain as to if we are established in the Gurbani’s Eternal Truth (= the Creator) or not.

For example, Baabaaba Nanak says:

1) One knows the Truth (ਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ, ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ…) only if the Truth be in one’s Heart. That is, when one is established in his Mool within (Source, Origin, Jot…).

: Truth is known then when the Truth is in the Heart (sggs 468).

When that happens, the Gurbani indicates to us that, then, the filth of false or deceptive Maya departs. And along with the mind, the bodily senses also become pure (i.e., free of Bikaars, Durmat…).

: Koorh kee malu… (sggs 468).

2) Further, Baabaa Nanak says that one knows the Truth (ਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ, ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ…) only when he bears Love to the True One (ਅਸਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੂਲ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ)

: Truth is known then when shelter in Love is taken (sggs 468).

When that happens, the Gurbani indicates to us that, then, hearing the True Naam, one is enraptured (ਖਿੜ ਜਾਣਾਂ) and attains the door of Liberation (from Maya).

: Hearing the Name, the mind is enraptured; then, he attains the gate of salvation. (sggs 468).

3) Further, Baabaa Nanak says that one knows the Truth (ਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ, ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ…) only when he knows the true way of life (Spiritual Lifestyle, the Gurmukh Lifestyle, the Divine Lifestyle, ਰੱਬੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਜਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ…).

: Truth is known then when the Way of (spiritual) life is known (sggs 468).

When that happens, the Gurbani indicates to us that, then, one plants the seed of the Divine Naam into his body-field.

: Dharti kaaiaa… (sggs 468).
: Manu  kirasaanu… (sggs 23).

4) Further, Baabaa Nanak says that one knows the Truth (ਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ, ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ…) only when he receives True Instructions of the Gurbani (Gur-Giaan, Wisdom of the Gurbani, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਸਚ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ…).

: The Creator is Realized when the authentic Counsel (spiritual Wisdom-Giaan, Advice, Direction etc) is received by the mind. Realize Compassion for one’s self, provide for the needs of the Conscience. (mind, self). (sggs 468).
: Sikhi is contemplation on Guru’s teaching (Instructions, Wisdom, Counsel, Guide, Upadesh, Giyan, Bibek) and acting on it. Being blessed by the Grace of the Guru’s teaching one then crosses the ocean of worldly temptations and their corrupting influences (Bhav Saagar). (sggs 465).
: Satiguru sikh kaou naam dhanu dei (sggs 286).

When that happens, the Gurbani indicates to us that, then, one exhibits, mercy and charitable attitude towards other beings (ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ).

: Daiaa jaanai… (sggs 468).

5) Further, Baabaa Nanak says that one knows the Truth (ਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ, ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ…) only when he abides within (ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾਂ) – in the sacred shrine of pilgrimage of his own soul (ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਆਤਮ ਤੀਰਥ ਤੇ).

: Truth is known then when the shrine of soul is made the dwelling (sggs 468).

When that happens, the Gurbani indicates to us that, then, one sits still within at the inner Teerath of his own soul (ਆਤਮ-ਤੀਰਥ: Aatam-Teerath) and ever abides there taking the “Satiguroo” Teaching (i.e., Wisdom, Giaan, Hukam, Eternal Knowledge, ਉਪਦੇਸ…).

: Satiguru no puchh…  (sggs 468).
  • ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥ ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੋ ਜੀਅਹੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥: One who Internalizes the Enlightening Message of the Satgur’s Shabad, remains absorbed in it (i.e. Wisdom / Virtues). Divine Naam (Wisdom / Virtues) always remains enshrined in a person’s mind who understands and follows the Gurbani (SGGS) from the core of his being. ||1||Pause|| (sggs 797).
Babba Nanak tells us in the outset of the SGGS:

: How then can you become God-Realized being within (‘Sachiaaraa‘)? How can I remove the obstacle of  my non-realized state within? O Nanak! (The way to realize Creator within is to) remain within the confines of His Hukam (the System or Law of Nature…) and abide in Sahaj, as (Creator and His Hukam) is contained with us. ||1|| (sggs 1).
